What the stages mean

Every commission moves through the same workshop, in the same order. Some pieces pass through a stage in a day; a carved shade can sit on the bench for a week.

01

Order received

Your brief is in the workshop and someone is reading it.

02

Design discussion

Wood, scale and light, worked through with you — usually a call.

03

Design confirmed

You have approved it. Nothing is cut before this point.

04

Being made

Turned on the lathe, sanded through eight grits, oiled and left to cure.

05

Quality check

Wired, lit, and looked at properly before it is allowed to leave.

06

On its way

Packed with its fixings and its bulb, and delivered.
